The situation
A live traffic corridor with incomplete records of existing buried utilities. Alignment models sat in Civil 3D while structures were authored in Revit, and the two were only ever compared after design freeze — by which point changes were expensive.
What we did
We established shared coordinates across both authoring platforms and brought alignment and structural models into a single federated environment reviewed fortnightly. Existing utilities were surveyed and modelled before detailed design rather than after.
Outcome
Three major utility conflicts were identified and designed out before construction, each of which would otherwise have caused a corridor closure. As-built verification against the survey closed with no unresolved deviations.
