The situation
Conveyor and racking equipment from four separate vendors had to be coordinated against building services in a facility with only 900mm of usable ceiling void across the pick zones. Maintenance access was being checked by eye on drawings.
What we did
Vendor equipment was brought into the federated model as controlled linked geometry, with defined maintenance clearances modelled as solid objects. Access envelopes therefore clashed as real geometry rather than relying on someone spotting the conflict visually.
Outcome
Every maintenance-access conflict was resolved before installation. The facilities team received a COBie-structured asset record at handover that mapped directly onto their existing maintenance management system.
